Research / Work Experience Armstrong Ambulance Service Arlington, MA Served as an emergency medical technician on board a basic life support emergency response and medical transport ambulance. Responded to residential 911 medical emergencies, nursing and assisted living geriatric emergencies, and transport of admitting, discharged, dialysis, and other non-ambulatory or precautionary patients. Frequent contact with patient medical histories and prescription medication lists. (2003 – 2006) Brandeis Emergency Medical Corps Waltham, MA Volunteered as Brandeis University on-campus emergency medical technician. The Corps responds to and treats all medical emergencies on campus 24 hours a day during every day of the academic school year, and defers to the town response ambulance if transport to the emergency room is necessary. (2003 – 2006) Walter Reed Army Institute of Research / Navy Medical Research Center Silver Spring, MD Worked in Experimental Therapeutics department assisting in anti-malarial research. Prepared intravenous and intramuscular experimental emulsions to check for particle size using spectroscopy. Assisted in gas chromatography of radioisotope tagged samples, and in dissection of test rats and cataloging of organs. Also assisted in the growth of pathological agent colonies. (Summer 2004, 2003) Skills, Memberships, Achievements Emergency Medical Technician Certification: Certification obtained from state Department of Health approved course and instructor, allowing for response to medical emergencies. Skills include artificial ventilation, defibrillation, CPR, monitoring of vital signs, administration of oral glucose, oxygen, aspirin, activated charcoal, and epinephrine via auto-injector, cervical spine and full body immobilization, vehicle and residential extrication, splinting of extremity fractures, suction of airways, and dressing of soft tissue wounds. Certification from 2003 to present maintained with continuing education and recertification classes. CPR Certification – Healthcare Provider Level: Red Cross certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation and the use of automatic external defibrillators. Certification maintained from 2003 to present with refresher classes. Lieutenant of Security at Otakon Convention: Supervised a team to help maintain crowd control at an annual 20,000-attendee convention held in Baltimore, MD (Summer 2005, 2004). Also supervised the seating and ushering of a 12,000-audience member concert at the 1st Mariner Arena. Wrote and Published Book in China: An autobiographical account of growing up in the United States and the features of my elementary and secondary schools. The focus was to give students and parents in China an idea of the differences between Chinese and American school systems and student mentality. Released in China June 2002. Other Skills: Fluent in Chinese (mandarin), with some experience in Spanish. Proficient with most computer hardware and peripherals, and software such as Microsoft Office.
