On the board Digestive System Digestion - body breaks food down into smaller components that can be absorbed through the
bloodstream.
Digestion System - organs that work together to breakdown foods into substances that your cells
can use.
Trace the transparency #52 on the board of the Digestive System.
Words to know Saliva - a digestive juice produced by the salivary glands.
Stomach - a muscular organ where some digestion occurs. Stomach acid dissolves food into
liquid.
Liver - secretes a liquid call bile that helps to digest fats.
Gallbladder - stores bile until it is needed.
Pancreas - aids the small intestines in producing pancreatic juice. Enzymes that breakdown
protein, carbs, and fats.
Simple - Small Intestines Liquefied food goes to the small intestines, then the villi absorbs the nutrients from the food and
transfers the nutrients to the blood stream. Blood stream travels to all parts of the body.
Excretory System - removes waste from your body, and controls water balance.
3 kinds of waste: Exhale waste is carbon dioxide gas.
Skin waste is sweat.
Kidneys - filter waste and water, Bladder - pouch where liquid waste is
stored, colon - storage tube for solid waste, also the large intestines.
