WRITE YOUR ANSWER HERE: Saint Thomas Aquinas and Humanism ● Thomas Aquinas was a Catholic philosopher living in the 1200s ● He stressed that faith is important, but humans could also gain knowledge from logic and reason. ● His views sparked humanism in Europe ● The Catholic church disagreed, stating that humans should only observe the world through faith ● Renaissance thinkers used Aquinas’ ideas to look back at the teachings of Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates and study the Reason and Logic of the Greek and Romans.
