Design for Manufacture Manager – 170001XI Are you an effective Manager with a solid understanding of manufacturing? Can you drive an effective team to overachieve? Vestas want you to join us to help drive the creation of some of the most advanced blade design in the Wind industry! Department TSS/RTC/Rotors/Blade Component & Assembly Design The Blade Integration Design (BID) Department is effectively the Blades Design for Manufacture (DfM) team. Our role is to Integrate Systems and Components into the Blade Design in a way that ensures easy, repeatable and robust manufacturing, whilst delivering cost competitive structural performance. We are accountable for delivering and maintaining the Design of the Blades. This includes detailed drawings, assembly drawings, specifications and the Design Bill of Materials. Our job is to provide clear, unambiguous communication of the Design Intent to our Manufacturing colleagues, empowering them to optimize their Manufacturing Process and Tooling within our clear Design Constraints. BID sits within Rotors Engineering (60+) which is responsible for the design of the complete Wind Turbine Rotor. This is the engine of the WTG, where wind energy is captured, controlled and converted into Torque. BID is a team of 15-20 Engineers and Technicians located in Denmark, USA and UK. We are focused on designing the Blades and integrating systems for easy, robust Manufacture. Simplicity and Standardization is our mantra. We are a team of 'doers' that make things happen. This 'Can Do' attitude is an essential quality for us all. You will quickly see the results of your endeavors, as within months they materialize in Products & Components being manufactured in our Global Facilities. Responsibilities and tasks As the Manager of BID you need to drive close collaboration with Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Structural Designers and Prototyping teams to develop the best DfM solutions. The back-bone of our Design Methodology is Design for 6-Sigma (DfSS), which provides the structure and tools to gather the Voice of Customers, select concepts, de-risk & develop designs and manage trials to deliver to optimal solution in our designs. Our projects range from developing New Blades & New Technologies to Cost-Out initiatives for existing Blades. All with a strong focus on task execution and timely completion of Project Deliverables. The key part of your role as Manager is to Enable Deliveries. Your team needs to deliver more than if they were a group of individuals. To support this, our focus is faster development of new products to effectively reduce: Man-hours and lead time to deliver Blade Projects Time to take the product to market Your success will be measured against these and the accuracy & precision of the Engineering performed within your team. Qualifications and work experience Bachelors or Master's degree in Engineering or Business Ideally experience from a manufacturing background Competencies Managerial Experience across an international, multicultural setting Organized and systematic with an eye for improving Design Efficiency Enthusiastic and engaged, willing to go the extra mile Well balanced between coaching and challenging performance Good communication with Peers, Senior Management, Engineers & Operators. 6-Sigma Green Belt experience Exposure to large composite structures using both Pre-Preg and Resin Infusion technologies is advantageous What we offer Competitive Salary with potential for annual bonus.
