Joel 2:28
“And afterward, I will pour out My
Spirit on all people. Your sons
and
daughters will prophesy,
your old
men will dream dreams,
your young
men will see visions.”
God Has a Dream
“He desires to see gathered out from the
homes of our people a large company of
youth who, because of the godly influences
of their homes, have surrendered their
hearts to Him, and go forth to give Him
the highest service of their lives…”

Such youth are prepared to represent to
the world the power and grace of Christ.”

Valuegenesis II results as compared with
Valuegenesis I brought some mixed news to our
attention. The good news – 96% of Adventist
kids see themselves as being religious, but…
• Bible reading is down by 10% (to 29%)
• EGW reading is down 50% (to 6%)
• 21% have daily family worship
• 50% still think they have to work for
their salvation.

We Have a Problem
“We need to invest
more time, effort and
energy discipling
children in the
church… Maybe we’ve
done more baptizing
than discipling… We
need to emphasize
discipleship rather than Willie Oliver, Director of Family
just becoming
Ministries for the Adventist
Church in North America
members.”

The Deuteronomy Model
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
The Deuteronomy Model
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the Lord is one.
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your strength.
These commandments I give you today are to be upon your
hearts.
Impress them on your children. Talk about
them when you sit at home and when you
walk along the road, when you lie down and
when you get up.
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your
foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses
and on your gates.

typically have no plan for the spiritual
development of their children… This
situation represents an opportunity for
churches to prepare parents for a more
significant role in the spiritual
development of their children…”

entrance point for nonchurched people
into the life of the church is children.
