SHEAR WAVE VELOCITY DETERMINATION FOR SILTY SAND

Abstract: The resonant column test is commonly used in geotechnical earthquake
engineering to determine the dynamic behavior of soils. Soil specimen is subjected a wave
propagation under different frequencies and wave velocities are determined. In this study,
shear wave velocities were measured for reconstituted silty sand samples. Samples were
prepared at different relative densities and saturation degrees also test were performed under
different confining pressures. The effects of these factors on the shear wave velocities were
investigated by comparing the test results.
