Seaflowers
Nursery
Welcome to my Seaflowers Nursery Catalogue.
My lifetime interest in plants, and in particular growing plants from seed, has led me
to set up my own small nursery. The plants I grow are mostly perennials, with many
being rare and unusual. I also have a large collection of Salvias, which I am steadily
propagating and adding to. Plants are grown from seed, cuttings, or by division, and
frequently include varieties that are useful nectar sources for beneficial insects. At
certain times of the year I may also offer various rare and special bulbs.
Some varieties are in short supply, but there are many that I have plenty of. Larger
orders and quantities may be available for some plants – please ask.
Mail order terms and conditions
To order please email me via the “contact form” and I can then reply direct to your
email. This is my preferred form of contact, as I run my business from home and
have a young family. You are welcome to include a few alternatives, as some plants
are in very short supply or sell out quickly.
Please note, for the mail order plants in this list there is a minimum order of 3
plants.
All orders are sent via Fastways courier. I will only send plants on Monday, Tuesday
and Wednesday. Post office box numbers are not suitable for couriers to use, so
please use a street or rural address. All rural deliveries have an extra charge –
please note that many small towns are now considered a rural delivery.
Freight charges for sending one carton of plants (up to 15 plants per carton):

Campanula grossekii
NEW STOCK
9cm pot $6.00, or 3 for $16.00

impact! Forms clumps of mid-green leaves, slightly rough to touch, and upright
stems of large, shaggy bright yellow flowers, slightly thistle-like in appearance.
Long-flowering from mid-summer to autumn, useful cut or dried flower, and highly
attractive to bees and butterflies. Leave the seedheads on for extra effect into the
winter, and to provide food for the birds. Prefers full sun and free-draining soils, and
is fully hardy but resents disturbance once established, so don’t try and move or
divide it. Height 90cm-150cm, spread 60-80cm.
Centaurea simplicicaulis
Few left
9cm pot $6.00
This is a really lovely wee groundcover, quite different from its bigger cousins.

A stunning form of the wild carrot and a favourite at Chelsea this year. Typical fine,
ferny green leaves give rise to plentiful stems of umbels in shades of white, pink and
burgundy which create a frothy feature in the garden. Fabulous for picking, and a
wonderful plant for beneficial insects as well. 90cm x 40cm.

sunny situation with good drainage. 15-20cm x 20cm.
Dierama pulcherrimum ‘Slieve Donard Hybrids’

(Angel’s fishing rod). A lovely selection of this graceful plant, with grey-green grassy
foliage and long, arching stems carrying delicate bells in shades of purple, red, pink
and lavender. Forms a large clump once established. As this is a mixture, I have
put only one plant per pot, in order to keep the colours separate. Quite a tough plant
and can handle most conditions, although does best in full sun. Will eventually make
a clump of around 100cm x 80cm.
Digitalis grandiflora
NEW STOCK
FEW ONLY

9cm pot $5.00, or 3 for $12.00
A stunning Foxglove selection, forming rosettes of hairy green leaves and tall stems

with compost added. Hardy short-lived perennial. 100cm x 35cm.
Erigeron ‘Los Angeles’
9cm pot $6.00, or 3 for $16.00
This is the sterile hybrid form of E. karvinskianus , which has a similar habit but much
larger lavender-pink flowers (and the advantage of not setting any seed!). Beautiful
in a tall pot where it can weep over the edge, or use it on banks or as an edging.
Prefers full sun, and is drought tolerant. 20-30cm x 30-50cm.
Erigeron multiradiatus
9cm pot $6.00, or 3 for $16.00
This is a favourite summer-flowering perennial which I have had for many years.
Forms a low clump of mid-green, slightly spoon-shaped leaves. Masses of mediumsized lavender daisies with fuzzy, golden-yellow centres are held on short stems just
above the foliage. Never seems to set seed, so propagation is by division only.
Prefers full sun. Has proved to be hardy and a reliable grower without taking over –
ideal for the front of the border. 20-25cm x 30cm.
Erigeron simplex
9cm pot $6.00, or 3 for $16.00
A little semi-alpine species forming small tufted clumps of narrow green leaves, and

Eupatorium cannabinum
12cm pot $7.00
A pretty plant, ideal for attracting beneficial insects and butterflies, and looks great
planted with grasses and late summer flowering perennials such as Heleniums. Tall

numerous tiny pink flowers, giving a slightly fluffy look when fully open. Full sun, and
copes well in slightly damp or heavy soils. 1m x 40cm.

From South Africa comes this rounded, bushy, evergreen sub-shrub. Distinctive
upright stems are densely covered with small, pointed leaves, giving a prickly effect.
Terminal clusters of mauve daisies with bright yellow centres. This is an excellent

soil. 60-70cm x 40cm.
Fuschia ‘La Campanella’
NEW
9cm pot $6.00
This is a bushy, low-growing variety with a weeping habit, making it ideal for raised
planters or even hanging baskets. Pale pink sepals and purple-pink petals which
deepen in colour as they age. Prefers a partly shady situation, with regular water
during the heat of summer. 30cm x 45cm.

60-100cm.

1 litre pot $8.00
A hardy biennial or short-lived perennial accent plant which forms a clump of highly
attractive large, furry, silvery-grey leaves. The leaves alone always draw comment,
but I also really enjoy the masses of fairly large white flowers, which are held on
upright, well-branched stems. Usually dies once it flowers and sets seed, but it will
sometimes live longer if the flower stem is cut back straight after flowering. Drought
tolerant and prefers a well-drained position in full sun. Plant where the soft leaves
can be touched – everybody wants to do this! 60-80cm x 50cm

relatively frost tender. 75cm x 100cm.

Salvia taraxacifolia
9cm pot $6.00, or 3 for $16.00
(Dandelion leaved sage). As it’s common name suggests, this delightful little plant
has leaves very similar in appearance to a Dandelion, except more of a silvery-green
colour. But that’s where the similarities end, as this species puts up a succession of
stiff, short flowering stems studded with cute, outward-facing baby-pink flowers.
Quite different from the majority of Salvia species I grow, this one only forms a small
clump and is well suited to growing at the front of the border, or rock garden, in full
