Aims
Thismoduleaimstoprovidefundamentaltheoretical,andpracticalknowledgeabouttheEarth’s
structures,origin,anddeformation.Itinvolvesstudyofdeformationmechanisms,andpatternsfrom
microscopicscale(e.g.grainsorwithingrains)toglobalscale(e.g.Earth'scrustorlithosphericplate).
StudentswillvisitgeologicaloutcropsinBruneitounderstandthelocalstructures,andtheirtectonic
significance. The association of hydrocarbons with tectonic, and gravitational structures will be
discussed,withparticularreferencetolocalexamples.
