Geometry Chapter 4: Congruent Triangles Triangle Congruence SWBAT: use SSS, SAS, HL, ASA, and AAS to show two triangles are congruent; show why SSA and AAA do not work to prove triangles congruent. Common Core: G.CO.6, G.CO.7, G.CO.8, G.CO.9, G.CO.10, G.CO.12, G.SRT.5 Postulate 19: Side-‐Side-‐Side (SSS) Congruence Postulate If three sides of one triangle are congruent to three sides of a second triangle, then the two triangles are congruent. Postulate 20: Side-‐Angle-‐Side (SAS) Congruence Postulate If two sides and the included angle of one triangle are congruent to two sides and the included angle of a second triangle, then the two triangles are congruent. Geometry Chapter 4: Congruent Triangles Theorem 4.5: Hypotenuse-‐Leg Congruence Theorem If the hypotenuse and a leg of a right triangle are congruent to the hypotenuse and a leg of a second triangle, then the two triangles are ____________________________________.
