CARBON FIBRE COMPOSITE TANK
INNOVATION:
The innovation is a carbon fibre composite tank
that is light weight with very high chemical resistance for the transport of Class 8 corrosive
chemicals. These tanks are the first carbon fibre
reinforced polymer (CFRP) tanks to be approved
according to ADR. The innovation of our product
is based on a highly chemical resistant polyolefin
thermoplastic liner in combination with a carbon
fiber structure. The product solves a significant
technical challenge in the plastics industry to
achieve a high strength bond to polyolefin materials which are difficult to bond to. The liner can be
made in one piece and does not collapse or debond from the structure. This feature is surrounded on one side with a worldwide patent to solve
this problem, on the other hand used to have a
high chemical resistant tank.
ADVANTAGES:
Our innovation gives the forwarder increase of his
payload of 30%, due to the use of carbon fibre in
the structure resulting in a lighter tank. Carbon fibre
composite is approximately double the strength of
glass fibre composite, and five times the strength
of steel, resulting in much thinner tank walls with
no reduction in safety. Factor 10 of safety has been
H5-D03
employed across the tank, resulting in a very safe
tank. Excellent chemical resistance of the seamless
thermoplastic liner, together with the ability to wash
the tank out and change chemical payload, results
in a high versatily.
SOLUTION:
The CFRP Minitank gives a high payload in combination with a high flexibility to the forwarder. The
tanks do not have to be changed, because the
chemical resistance fits most of the chemicals.
The high washability also gives the possibiliy to
transport chemical in variation/alternation, which
is mostly not possible today. The seamless thermoplastic liner also means reduced repairs and
maintainenance and long service life (>10 years
without maintenance to the liner).
HANDLING:
The CFRP Minitank is equiped with a safety feature
which secures the tank from vacuum damages and
makes the handling a lot safer for the driver.

INNOVATION:
ADVANTAGES:
Well versed trip planning is a prerequisite for
shaping efficient and cost-effective logistics
processes. In automating the generation of trip
plans lays the necessity for exact information:
the sequence of orders and routes – “routing” –
needs all relevant road data (trip times, distance, toll costs, road restrictions, etc.). The
established/conventional routing process for trip
planning assumes identical values for trip times
and routes/distances regardless of time-ofday or day-of-week. In reality, the required trip
times vary significantly dependent on characteristic patterns in traffic flow. If no consideration is paid to time-of-day and day-of-week, the
results of trip planning with a fixed point in time
will likely lead to additional costs or contract
penalties for the transport provider. For this
reason, OPTITOOL has established a support
programme in collaboration with Fraunhofer,
Geofabrik and Meindl to assure effective trip
planning with time dependent routing information. The program/project is to be completed by
Q2/2017.
■
Time-dependent routing information
■
intelligent/clever trip optimisation will determine
the cheapest routes and notably avoid anticipated traffic congestion
■
Development of a data storage method to make
pre-calculated data readily available for routing
calculation
■
By cleverly combining advanced routing algorithms with efficient data access to pre-calculated data, a satisfactory speed will be achieved
using commercially available RAM memory
■
Improved punctuality and delivery loyalty
■
CO2-Savings
SOLUTION:
The TOTARI software is being developed to account for time-dependent routing information
within the framework of trip planning. Freely
available traffic information, derived from static
map data as well as real-time data in addition to
data from the own fleet is used to achieve higher
accuracy in time dependent routing of trip plans.
For this project new mathematical models and
optimisation algorithms are being developed and
practical solutions are tested in a pilot application.
HANDLING:
The practical benefit to using a time dependent
trip plan is obvious: Bypassing heavily frequented
routes at high-congestion times helps to avoid traffic congestion and associated immobilisation times.
Transport capacity utilisation will be maximised due
to less subsequent deliveries and missed target
dates. Additionally, shorter trip times, shorter driven distances while avoiding congested areas allow
for less CO2 emissions. A more precise trip plan
helps customer relations through higher punctuality and delivery loyalty. TOTARI will be added to the
OPTITOOL map data and contribute to innovation in
trip planning and trip optimisation. The user will not
have to change familiar processes and will simply
benefit from higher product capability.
