September 2013 Newsletter
About 18 months ago it became increasingly clear to us at LYCiG that we needed to further
our work and effectiveness in helping local churches to grow. Bob Jackson, one of our team
members, made an observation that our LYCiG courses are training and equipping the
brain of the Local Church but needed to get the “stuff” beyond the brain into its
“bloodstream”.
Hence “LYCiG Local” – We are producing the essence of the residential course material in
an “easy to teach- easy to learn” format. Very much in the style of “Start” and “Moving On”,
using DVD, leader’s manuals and lots of interactive material. LYCiG Local will be ready by
the end of 2013. It is meant as a tool for those who have attended our leadership course to
equip and inspire the whole church. With three sessions for leaders/PCC and six for the
church members, home groups etc. There is growing excitement about this project.
Nine dioceses, (Hereford, Blackburn, Lichfield, Leicester, Guildford, Portsmouth, Bradford,
St Albans and Ripon & Leeds) have already block booked seventy five packs in advance. If
yours is not one of the nine it will be available for you to buy from us from November 2013
onwards.
More and more churches are looking beyond the initial contact areas of enquirers groups
and towards the ongoing work of making disciples. Our “Moving On” course is in affect
“Start” part two. It runs for seven sessions covering issues such as :- Life Style, Prayer &
Bible, Worship, Church-The Holy Spirit, Giving, & Witnessing to Others.
Moving On works really well for new or “still becoming” Christians. It also works for those
who have been Christians for years. The nature of the material means that we all need to
keep returning to these fundamental issues. Moving On has got a fresh direct and
challenging style that many long term Christians have never encountered before.
We are getting great feedback from early adopters, so if you are looking for help in your
discipleship making why not give it a try.
2013 is being an absolute bumper blessing year for LYCiG. The November LYCiG
leadership course looks like being the biggest one we have ever delivered. 2014 looks like
being even bigger. Of course “Big” is not always “Beautiful” but gradual patient growth is of
the nature of the Kingdom. Jesus promises that when we scatter the seed it will grow (Mark
4 v26). So thank you for all your support and prayers.
So may God be with us all as we seek to grow His Church, His Kingdom and His People.
Yours in Christ,
Robin Gamble
