Egas Moniz 1649-028 Lisboa Phone: +351 217 999 411 Fax: +351 217 999 412 AD FOR ALLOCATION OF A RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP Reference of Fellowship IMM/BI/38-2012 The Cellular Immunology Unit from Instituto de Medicina Molecular is opening a call for a Research Fellowship funded by Bayer Global Hemophilia Awards, under the project “Boosting dendritic cell function to facilitate tolerance induction to recombinant clotting factors”. Work Plan and Goals The investigation will be directed towards the study of mechanisms that maintain immune tolerance, using models of haemophilia and autoimmunity, namely regulatory T cells and immune regulatory cytokines. The candidate may wish to read recent group publications. Key responsibilities: Develop and implement new scientific techniques and experimental protocols; Test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources; Contribute ideas for new research projects; Share responsibility for shaping research plans; Represent the research group at external meetings/seminars; Collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and present data/papers at conferences; Use specialist scientific equipment in a laboratory environment. Scientific Area: Cellular Immunology Profile of Candidate • Degree in a biomedical related field of study; • Effective written and spoken communication skills, with good command of English language. • Highly motivated and committed with clear ability for critical reasoning. • Interest in continuing the research project as a PhD student. Ideally the candidate should be interested in pursuing the research project for a doctoral degree. Duration 6 months in full-time regime, according to the Law n. º 40/2004, of August 18th, of the Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação Científica (http://www.fct.mctes.pt/pt/apoios/bolsas/estatutodobolseiro) and according to Regulation of Fellowships from Instituto de Medicina Molecular (IMM). The fellowship can eventually be extended for equal periods, until the maximum stipulated in Regulation of Fellowships of IMM. Start Date of Fellowship: July, 2012 Workplace and Scientific direction The work will be conducted in the Cellular Immunology Unit at IMM, under the supervision of Prof. Luis Graça and Dr. Vanessa Oliveira. Remuneration The monthly remuneration will be according to the values stipulated in Regulation of Fellowships of IMM.
