battery powered high voltage power supply for detectors
Use the HV5kV to manage detectors which need up to 5 kV high voltage
detectors.
Or use just as a stand-alone versatile power supply for many nuclear
electronics.
The HV5kV is a battery powered
high voltage power supply for
semiconductor detectors. It can be
used as an independent standalone
device, but it is designed for
use in conjunction with the
MCA166, if the voltage supplied by
the MCA itself is not high enough.
It needs the same charging power
supply as the MCA166 and it is
designed such that HV5kV and
MCA166 can be both connected to a single charger. The high voltage is adjusted by a 10turn-potentiometer. Correct operation is indicated by two LEDs.

Specification:
•
Output voltage 0 - 5 kV, adjustable.
•
Output current 10 μA max.
•
Accuracy of adjustment: better than 2% or 20 V, whatever is higher.
•
Ripple : < 1 mVpp at 5 kV, 1 μA.
•
Power on is indicated by a green LED. The red overload LED is on, when the output voltage is
more than 2% lower than adjusted.
•
Voltage rise time < 500 V/s. For higher voltages, it may need some time until the overload LED
extinguishes.
•
The output is short circuit proof. Overload is indicated by permanent operation of the overload
LED. In this case, reduce voltage until overload LED extinguishes and try again. In the case
that the problem persists, check HV5kV without load connected; check load, and check if
battery voltage is low.
