Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders (MSF/DWBI) is an international humanitarian medical aid organization working in more than 70 countries worldwide. Médecins Sans Frontières is neutral, impartial, independent, and not linked to any political party or governmental body. Our teams provide emergency medical assistance to people in need, irrespective of their nationality, race or religion. In 1999 MSF was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize as recognition for its medical work in several continents. . Position: Counsellor Location of Job: KEM ART center (for KEM and MSF collaborative project in HIV care), Mumbai Duration:12 months (renewable) Start Date: 19/09/2016 Salary Package: INR 24875/- plus benefits Closing date: 28/08/2016 Main Objectives: Implement Viral Load counselling and enhanced adherence counselling activities together with a counselling team in KEM ART center. Strengthening patient support activities in KEM ART center Core responsibilities and tasks: Train a patient support team in KEM center on conducting counselling prior to Viral Load testing and Enhanced Adherence Counselling (EAC)/follow up counselling onwards Mentor a patient support team in KEM center in conducting counselling on Viral Load testing and enhanced adherence counselling in group or individual Identify and track those who need EAC and ensure conduction of EAC Assist in planning and facilitating support group sessions for People Living with HIV/AIDS ( PLHA). Be proactive in promoting clear communication with colleagues in multi-disciplinary team to ensure new diagnosis and treatment are well informed within the team, changes to patient care and follow-up appointments, etc.. Train and mentor conducting counselling on HCV testing and treatment amongst HIV/HCV coinfected Assist KEM staff in conducting health talks (HIV/TB) and other awareness raising activities in KEM ART center Assist in tracking LTFU ( Lost to Follow up) patients and implementing activities to minimise LTFU in collaboration with KEM ART center and related NGOs. Assist in identifying clients’ needs and solutions for those needs (e.g., drug pick-ups). Participate in the creation and implementation of new counselling guidelines, Information Education and Communication (IEC )tools as well as training materials. Collaborate with other NGO/Community based Organisations(CBOs) affiliated counsellors in order to identify patients’ needs and to provide supportive counseling if needed. Collaborate with local NGOs and CBOs in awareness raising activities related to HIV/TB. Assist in keeping regular and accurate records of clients and counsellor activities. Contribute to identifying factors attributing to adherence to ART by PLHAs and defining new strategies for patient support if required Participate in/contribute to training in KEM ART center or within MSF. Participate in/contributes to meeting in KEM ART centre or within MSF Participate in/contribute to data collection and producing of monthly/quarterly/annual report Flexibility to rotate to other interventions of MSF in Mumbai. Key Requirements: Qualifications Required Bachelors/Masters degree in psychology/ counselling/Social work Work Experience Essential, working experience of at least 3 years in related jobs for HIV/TB Experience in Public Health system and other NGOS will be an advantage.
