Strawberry DNA Extraction
DIRECTIONS:
1) Place 2 strawberries in a Ziploc bag. Close & Push all of the
air out when you seal it.
2) Mash the strawberries, in the bag, for about 2min. DO NOT
BUST THE BAG!
3) Pour 10mL of the Extraction Buffer into the bag & Reseal.
4) Mash the mixture for another minute.
5) Pour your mixture/solution into your coffee filter (in your funnel, which sits in the beaker).
6) Wait until all of the liquid has filtered through.
7) Pour your filtered liquid into a test tube.
8) Holding the test tube at an angle.
9) Add 5pipette-fuls of cold Rubbing Alcohol to the test tube. BE
CAREFUL: Make sure to add it down the side of the tube. DO
NOT MIX!
10) Let this sit for a few minutes. You should see DNA (looks like
snot) rise out of the solution.

- Draw your test tube, and all of the contents in side.
- Label all of the contents in your drawing.
