Identifying Big Ideas from Unwrapped Standards: 1. The two different types of chemical bonds are ionic and covalent. 2. By using valence electrons, octet rule and electronegativity, write a chemical formula 3. Using coefficients, be able to write and balance a chemical equation. 4. Be able to identify the different types of equations. Essential Questions from Big Ideas to Guide Instruction and Assessment: 1. What is the difference between an ionic and covalent bond? 2. What is the correct way to write a chemical formula for a given substance? 3. How do you write and balance a chemical equation? 4. What are the patterns of the different types of chemical equations?
