Job Title: Technical Writer Location: Jackson/Parnall Office Functional Area: Government & Regulatory Affairs Employment Level: Professional (Non-Supervisor) Requisition #: 51066277 Apply By: 01/02/2017 Department Summary The Regulatory Compliance department is responsible for ensuring that all employee work, and documentation thereof, remains in compliance with state regulated code requirements. Within this department, the Creative Projects & Process Innovation team works to transform both regulatory and non-regulatory projects into new electronic formats for improved end user use and overall experience. This team mainly deals with turning highly technical content and workflow/work management processes into new, innovative, and strategic products/programs that are highly focused on the usage of technology platforms. Job Description/Responsibilities The Regulatory & Compliance Technical Analyst II position will be responsible for assisting in all technical writing responsibilities associated with DOET Regulatory Compliance projects. As an expert in all Microsoft Office Suite applications, individual will perform a diverse range of responsibilities associated with all project tasks that include technical writing and editing work. This individual will utilize and maintain the writing style guide(s) for the Regulatory & Compliance Creative Team, and perform editing/proofreading tasks to ensure standardization/style consistency throughout all written documentation. This individual will utilize and participate in managing all Creative Team SharePoint sites (currently four) for document management and workflow purposes. He/she will also participate in completing all Gas Operations Manuals revision work (to include cross-functional collaboration with the Change Coordinator and Procedure Owners.) This individual will work closely with the Creative Projects & Process Innovation Technical Editor to collaborate on project strategy, execution, and completion for the writing components of all DOET Regulatory Compliance projects. As such, this individual must have the ability to make both independent decisions regarding technical writing work and also actively participate in both a cross-functional team of Graphics Design/Illustration and Technical Writing personnel, and across numerous areas of the Energy Delivery and Operations Organizations (in working with various SMEs.) Key Responsibilities include: • Participate in performing all technical writing responsibilities associated with regulatory documentation • Collaborate with technical writing staff members on project strategy, tasks, and work breakdown structure • Support technical writing work associated with Gas Manuals revisions • Utilize and assist in management of SharePoint sites, to include both site development and maintenance • Collaborate with Graphic Designers in translating technical content into new visual material • Plan and meet deadlines associated with technical writing content on all regulatory projects • Use and maintain writing style guides for regulatory project work Requirements/Qualifications • A Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of study. Less than a Bachelor’s degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive Company or industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance. Duties and who this individual reports to will fluctuate between projects, departments and offices. Lead and/or assist with technical support for the plans, reports, impacts, contracts, schedules, estimates, data collection, observation, and field investigation. Provide technical, non-engineering support services with accuracy, on time and under budget. Use computer assisted applications software and equipment to prepare technical support documents. Understand and follow company established standard procedures for file structure and standard procedures for projects. Become familiar with business and technical plans and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately. Assists in client contact and communication. Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public. Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders. Attend internal and external meetings. Provide technical support services in a legal and ethical manner. Hours and Travel: This position requires the individual work 40 hours per week with 90% of time spent in the office or specific field locations.
