We are pleased to confirm that a space has been reserved for you in our CranioSacral Therapy for Pediatrics workshop being held in Chicago, IL on Thursday June 11, 2009 - Sunday June 14, 2009, at Holiday Inn Chicago - Skokie in Skokie, IL. Accommodations: Holiday Inn Chicago - Skokie 5300 West Touhy Skokie, IL 60077 Phone: 847-679-8900 www.skokie.holiday-inn.com Group Rates: Single: $115 Double: $115 Your participation in this seminar will show you how to work with the special issues that surround the application of CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release as they relate to infants and children. As a reminder, in order to participate in this course you need to have already completed SomatoEmotional Release I. To help you prepare and derive maximum benefit from the program, we recommend you read Out of Sync Child by Carol Stock Kranowitz. To obtain a copy, please call us at 1-800-233-5880 or 561 622-4334. As with all CST and SER classes, this workshop will consist largely of lecture, demonstration and practice. However, this class will also include several experiential exercises, including one SER lab, in order to help you better understand and "meet" children where they are. On the third and fourth days, you are requested to refer infants and/or children (up to 12 years of age) upon which you can practice the demonstrated techniques under supervision. You will be expected to attend and participate in entire class in order to receive a letter of attendance. On days 3 and 4, the class is designed for participants to work in pairs with the children. The infants and children are provided solely by you and your classmates, and often receive immeasurable benefits from attending. We have received many letters from the parents of the children who were involved in the workshops commenting on the impact this brief opportunity has had on their families - below are just a few. Unfortunately, if participants are unable to provide a sufficient number of children, the educational quality of the seminar will be impacted. Do not assume others are able to bring a child - please complete and return the enclosed form via mail or fax today. The children need to be available: Day 3: from 10:45 - 11:45 a.m., and from 1:15 until approximately 2:15 p.m. Day 4: from 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. The parents or guardians should bring some favorite toys and can be with the child during the sessions on the third and fourth days. We will ask the parents or guardians to sign a release form. This release simply acknowledges that they have agreed to allow their child to be worked on during the seminar. We also present demonstrations by the teacher during this workshop if you have a child you would be interested in letting us know about. Day 1: from 4:00 - 4:45 p.m. - Infant Demonstration Day 2: from 1:30 - 2:15 p.m. - Child or infant with difficult birth Day 3: from 4:00 - 4:45 p.m. - Child or infant with family member(s) During the course of the workshop some of the techniques practiced may require the use of gloves. We will supply latex gloves for use at the class, however, if you are latex sensitive please bring a box of an alternate material. The children need to be available: Day 3: from 10:45 - 11:45 a.m., and from 1:15 until approximately 2:15 p.m. Day 4: from 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. During these times they will receive a CST treatment from a team of therapists that are participating in the workshop. The children must be available for all three treatment times, and the times cannot be shared between children. 2. I know of more than one child interested in participating. Would it be okay to turn in more than one application? Yes, please do! Sometimes therapists who travel long distances to come to the class are not able to bring a child with them - and sometimes local therapists do not have any children able to participate. We often rely on therapists who are able to schedule more than one child for participation. 3. As the therapist attending the course, I turned in a completed application form but I have not heard anything. Is the child registered? When the child is confirmed into the class a confirmation letter is sent directly to the parent/guardian confirming the times and the location that the child is scheduled to participate. 4. I know of a child that I would like to bring, but he/she is older than 12. Is that okay? If the child has a current medical condition, and he/she is only a year or two older than the requested age limit (12 years) - please complete and send in the application and indicate that you are aware that he/she is over the requested age limit. If the child is able to be confirmed into the class, a confirmation letter will be sent directly to the parent/guardian. 5. What if I cannot arrange to refer a child? What will happen? We understand that those traveling a distance to participate in the workshop may not be able to refer a child to the workshop. Hopefully, and typically, the local therapists will have more than one child that is interested in participating and therefore we will reach the quota that we are looking for. If the number of children does not reach the quota, the instructor will modify the format of the class accordingly to provide the best experience possible for all the participants.
