Major challenges to building a shared CMMI Data Repository
• Data not systematic or curated enough to make a major
impact unless funding is continued beyond one NSF grant
• Data collection (even for critical fundamental data) is
deemed not innovative enough for NSF funding – a
perception problem
• Data collection only in a ad-hoc fashion based on proposals
that earned the best reviews – Are there ways to develop
collective (collaborative) data collection efforts?
• Sustainable maintenance of the Data Repository
February 6-7, 2017
Data my group can provide:
• Phase diagrams
• Diffusion coefficients
• Thermal conductivity
• Phase precipitation kinetics
What you hope to get from this Workshop
• Innovative ways to address the challenges listed in
the left Quad
• Meet the peers to brainstorm potential solutions
• Learn how to contribute more since this topic is
important and core to my research
• Learn latest database structure and management
tools
