Flash Cards
Assignment
For this assignment, you will be working in groups to create study flashcards for the Digestive System.
In groups of 3-4, divide the following organs (or groups) between yourselves evenly (each student must
be in charge of at least 2 organs).
1. Overview
2. Oral Cavity
3. Salivary Glands
4. Stomach and Esophagus
5. Liver and Gall bladder
6. Pancreas
7. Small Intestine
8. Large Intestine
FRONT OF FLASHCARD:
 Title (from above)
 A numbered diagram of the organ or group of organs
 Legend (may be on the front or back)
BACK OF FLASHCARD:
 Structure and Function = Overall structure and function of the organ(s), this
may include a description of some of the labels parts from the front side
 Associated Terminology = Explain/define any relevant terms you come across during research
 “Aids in the digestion of…” = Explain which macromolecules or substances it breaks down
 “Did you know…?” = One interesting fact (can be a statistic, related to disease of the organ etc.)
 Is this organ(s) connected to any other parts of the system?
 Resources = List of sources you used
Tips:
 Please create all diagrams/descriptions on the computer; there should be little or no handwriting on
the cards
 You should create multiple copies of your cards… Ex. if your group has 4 people, you should create 5
copies of EACH flashcard (one for each group member, including yourself, plus one to hand in). This will
leave everyone in your group with a full set of flashcards.
 Cards should be approx. ¼ page (you can make the card ½ page if you really need to)
 Please see our class website for the assignment rubric
 See reverse for specific requirements for each option
