Professional Summary
In prehistoric times I was worshipped as Eschyl. Historians believe that I am similar to Jesus Christ
(“Prometheus and Jesus”). In Greek mythology, I am one of the nineteen Titans. My father, also a Titan, is
Iapetus and my mother is Klymene (Atsma). I have the power of forethought and my brother, Epimetheus, has
the power of afterthought. I created man by “molding mankind out of clay” (Atsma). After I created man, I
protected my creation. Humans clashed with the gods and Zeus took fire way from them. I realized that humans
were starving so; I stole fire from the gods and gave it to humans. My symbol is fire, after my gift to mankind.
I am known as one of the greatest friends of mankind and the savior of the human race. Zeus did not approve of
me giving humans fire so he punished me in a horrible way. Zeus had me tied to rock so an
eagle could come every day to eat out my liver. I am immortal so this punishment was internal, until
decades later when Heracles freed me from bondage. I am often shown in art tied to a rock with an eagle
picking at my skin. Zeus also punished mankind by creating “Pandora, the first woman, as a means to
deliver misfortune into the house of man (Atsma). Some believe that I was the one that struck Zeus in the
head with the axe so that Athena leaped out of his head. Others believe that Hephaestus struck Zeus to free
Athena. I have no comment on the matter. The sixty-first element Promethium gets its name from me (Yinon).

Greek God - Protector of Man
My appearance is known from Greek art. I am very large like my brother, Atlas. I have very long hair
because I have been tied up without time to cut it. In art I carry a torch, which symbolizes my gift of fire.
Professional Affiliations
Zeus is my opponent. He dislikes the humans and I protect them. My brothers are Atlas, Epimetheus, and
Menoetius.
