What is Open Learning?



Open learning is a teaching method .
Open learning is supposed to allow pupils
self-determined, independent and
interest-guided learning.
Also : Active Learning….Cooperative
Learning….Distance Education….Open
Education.

What is Open Learning?


Distance education or distance learning is a field of
education that focuses on teaching methods and
technology with the aim of delivering teaching, often
on an individual basis, to students who are not
physically present in a traditional educational setting
such as a classroom.
It has been described as "a process to create and
provide access to learning when the source of
information and the learners are separated by time
and distance, or both."

Engineering [TUOL]


Teesside University open learning in engineering
(TUOL) is the world’s leading provider of high quality
flexible education to the engineering industry.
For 25 years we have been creating high quality, stand
alone, open learning materials. It is a realistic way to
deliver necessary training and education to staff who
are unable to attend conventional classroom based
courses. So, if you work on an oil rig in the Caribbean
or in pipeline construction in a desert, your
professional development need not be interrupted –
you can study at your own pace, effectively anywhere.

Online & Distance Education at UND


The University of North Dakota has a strong
history in distance learning, offering
correspondence by mail courses since 1911.
Today, more than 7,000 enroll in distance courses
each year.
With the University of North Dakota’s ABETaccredited distance engineering degree program,
you can earn your Bachelor of Science in
Engineering while you continue to live and work
in your local community.

Online & Distance Education at UND


The College of Engineering and Mines currently offers five of our
engineering degree programs (chemical, civil, electrical,
mechanical and petroleum) through a distance delivery mode called
our Distance Engineering Degree Program (DEDP).
Our DEDP delivery mode offers non-traditional engineering
students an opportunity to complete most of their undergraduate
degree coursework in our accredited undergraduate engineering
programs through the internet. Students are required to complete
their laboratory requirements through accelerated summer
courses at UND. Since our DEDP students experience the same
lectures and coursework requirements as our on campus students,
we consider this education experience to be essentially equivalent.


Established in 1989.
The Washington Accord is an international
accreditation agreement for professional engineering
academic degrees.
The Washington Accord covers undergraduate
engineering degrees.
The accord is not directly responsible for the licensing
or registration of Professional Engineers and Chartered
Engineers, but it does cover the academic requirements
that are part of the licensing processes in signatory
countries.
