TheSchedulingProcess
Theschedulingprocessisdesignedtogiveeachstudenttheopportunitytoparticipateinthedecision
making process with regard to their four-year academic program. During the process, students are
encouragedtoengageinconversationwithparents,GuidanceCounselors,teachers,andDepartment
Chairs with the goal of designing a challenging, college-preparatory program of study that fits their
interests and abilities. Parents are also strongly encouraged to discuss course selections with their
student’sGuidanceCounselorinordertogaingreaterperspectiveonhowthoseselectionsfitinto,and

highestlevelatwhichtheywillbesufficientlychallengedyetcanachieveacademicsuccess.Weare
confident that the scheduling process will ensure that the best possible schedule is created for each
student.
The process of scheduling is broken down into five areas: course selection, course/level
recommendation, online registration, approval/review, and building. Students and parents must

and personal preferences. Members of the faculty meet within their departments to determine the
appropriate level placement in each academic discipline for every student in the school. This
opportunity for discussion allows present and former teachers to have input into a student’s level
placement. Once the departments have agreed upon a student’s level placement, administrators,
department chairs, and guidance counselors meet to discuss each student’s schedule and level
