To think outside the box, here are some song ideas: Jackson 5, Beach Boys, One direction, Broadway,
Rap, Pop, Movie themes, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, Queen, Glee, Beatles, Pitch Perfect, etc. Song must
be approved by Mrs. Clausen by Friday, Oct 16th.
Assignment: In groups of 2-4, you must create a music video demonstrating your ability to use facial
expressions and body language as a means of expressing emotion. The entire group must participate by
lip syncing to the song chosen, but it is not necessary that they always be in each scene together.
Song must be 2 ½ -4 minutes in length and will be graded on creativity, energy/emotional output,
appropriate use of lip sync, facial expression, length, teamwork, and effort. It can be a song sung by a
solo artist or a group. But remember each member of your group must lip sync at least part of the
video.
Video can be filmed on a video camera, cell phone, tablet or any other capable device. These devices
will NOT be provided for you. You must bring them from home. Casteel HS is not responsible for lost or
damaged items. It is your responsibility to care for these devices appropriately. Filming will take place at
school, but meeting outside of school time is required for editing. You may also choose to film some
takes at a different location on your own time.
Video must include 1) an introduction of team members and 2) the music video itself. During the music
video you will be lip syncing to the song you have chosen. It is recommended to have more than one
scene in your video. Remember the examples shown in class. Changing scenes keeps audience
attention and makes it more interesting to view.
There are many apps and programs out there that make video-making easy. Do some research and find
what works best for you. Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
Music videos must be brought in on a DVD or flash drive by Thursday, October 22.
