Biology- Cell Division Guiding Questions 1. What do your cells do as you grow? 2. What are 2 reasons that cells divide instead of continuing to get bigger and bigger? 3. Explain the relationship between surface area and volume in a growing cell. 4. Explain the differences between the following vocab terms: chromatin, chromosomes, and sister chromatids. 5. Be able to name AND describe the main events that go on during Interphase: G1 phase, S phase, and G2 phase, and Mitosis: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase, AND Cytokinesis. 6. What is Go? Why are neurons frequently found in this stage? Why do some cells divide more quickly than others? Give examples of cells that divide frequently and explain why they would do so. 7. Explain chromosomes, sister chromatids, and the process of mitosis in terms of chocolate and vanilla oreos (*****we will get to this on Wednesday!!). 8.
