The Faculty actively seeks opportunities to receive student feedback. This can be via the traditional platforms,
such as Student Staff Liaison Committee meetings, or through immediate feedback following the closure of a
lecture.

PGT students in the Department of HRM requested a reading week – this was introduced and
standardised during both semesters.
UG students in the Department of Economics requested their final grades were made available through
MyPlace. This was not originally planned by the department, but was implemented in time for that cohort
to receive their grades via MyPlace.
In the Hunter Centre students commented that they were finding it difficult to work on their assignments
and weren’t aware of important deadlines, as they had not read their student handbooks. As a result, the
Department have established restrictions in MyPlace to ensure the Class Handbook is downloaded
before full access to the page is granted. The class coordinator also ensures that students are regularly
reminded of deadlines during class.
The Faculty has developed a rigorous action plan to improve results in the area of Assessment and
Feedback. The Faculty made significant progress in further developing our Faculty level assessment and
feedback standards. Specifically to more organisational aspects of Assessment and Feedback, relating
to the perceived fairness of assessments and visibility of assessment criteria. The approach taken by
SBS in this area has subsequently been shared around the institution and adopted as recommended
best practice.
Data is considered by Directors of Teaching directors through the Faculty Academic Committee, to
review and implement actions in accordance with the outcome of the surveys.
