PROFILE
I’m a high motivated student seeking for a Ph.D. in Biophysics, Biochemistry or Molecular Biology. I
graduated with honor in Natural Sciences (master degree) on July 2014 with a final thesis in physiology and
now I want to go further, and expand my knowledge in these fields. I also work as translator English to
Italian (and vice-versa), I’m specialized in scientific topics, such as scientific paper or thesis, but I also like to
work with technology, videogames and environment topics.

Thesis title: “Heterologous expression in Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells, of AQP9 of cells of Rattus
norvegicus liver, an Aquaglyceroporin with metabolic roles”
9 months of lab work, main techniques learned: SDS-PAGE and western blotting, Agarose gel
electrophoresis, DNA and RNA extractions, plasmid-DNA extraction (miniprep), bacterial cultivation
and transformation (heat shock), PCR, use of restriction enzimes, stopped flow light scattering with
membrane vesicles, use of Clustal Omega software and some molecular biology software like Snap Gene.
Spectrographic techniques studied, during my mineral-petrographic techniques course, I dealt
with some spectrographic techniques also used in biology such as X-ray, Raman, IR, Mossbauer.
I’ve also studied how scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron
microscope (TEM) works.

I worked as freelance translator for different topics. I translated thesis, scientific paper, but also some legal
texts, tourist brochures, and website pages.

handling and funding loans. This work involved me in advising and assisting customers, face with problems

My very first job, my duties started very early in the morning (6 a.m.), and included to read different
journals, scan them, and use a specific software to produce a press review to send to different customers.
All of my work experiences have involved working within a team-based culture. This involved planning,
organisation, co-ordination and commitment.

Very good knowledge of English language (TOEFL IBT score 102) and a perfect Italian (mother tongue).
I’m a really curious person, I love to travel, discover new cultures and meet new people. I really like to
practice sports, in particular outdoor sports, like mountain bike and rugby. Experience taught me how to
use my initiative and be a team-player, but also how to be self-sufficient and to cope with unexpected
situations.
I also enjoyed the experience to be a scientific divulgator for foreign tourists in the volcanology museums of
Vulcano and Stromboli islands, and in the earth science museum of the University of Bari.
SKILLS
Planning and Organisation
My biggest test of organisation was completing my final dissertation. It took me months of in-depth lab
work, research, study, compressing information and finally displaying it to a standard I was happy with. I
was extremely proud when I graded with full marks.
Computing skills
I use computer since the age of 6, I feel very confident in the use of PC and I’m proficient in all aspects of
Microsoft Windows and Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I’ve also learned to use specific
graphic software like Photoshop and Premiere, Cartography software ArcGIS, bioinformatics software like
Clustal Omega and Snap gene.
