A STUDENT RAN BUSINESS
Classroom Partnership
 The Journalism department currently printed posters, cards, invitations, etc.
for businesses and the school.
 They wanted to expand and market that program and turn it into an actual
business.
 They asked the business department to partner with them.
 This was the start of the discussion of the student ran business.
2015 – 2016 School Year
 The idea was developed to create a student ran business.
 Students would learn the process of running a business.
 Each student would have a role/job within the business they were responsible for.
 What type of business the students were going to run changed over time.
 Coffee Shop
 Video Productions
 Screen Printing
 Mr. Curtis and Mrs. Flinn attended several workshops on student ran
businesses and the process that we should follow.
Paw Print was developed
 After a lot of discussion and
matching curriculum within the
departments it was decided that
a screen printing shop would be
best.
 It also had the benefits of helping
the community
 Lincoln does not have one
 Nearest shop is 40 miles away
Funding
 At this point we had to figure out
exactly how we were going to
fund the program.
 Buy equipment
 Attend training
 Build an inventory
 We had about 8 months at this
point to figure this out to be up
and running by the next school
year.
LET THE GRANT WRITING BEGIN
 From this point we began writing
grants. Anything that we could
find that was relevant we wrote a
grant for.
 We found and wrote 7 grants of
relevance to our project.
 We were awarded 6 grants
