Position: GRAND VICE PRESIDENT MEMBERSHIP
Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
The Grand Vice President Membership provides direction and leadership toward the
development of a membership plan with focus on attracting and retaining members.
She provides oversight for the growth of the Fraternity through recruitment and
retention of collegiate chapter members and the extension of the Fraternity through
the establishment of new collegiate chapters and new alumnae organizations. She
partners with the Grand Vice President Collegians and Grand Vice President Alumnae
to ensure a smooth integration of support to all facets of Fraternity membership.
The Grand Vice President Membership has the specific duties set forth in Article III
Section 16 of the Constitution and Statutes
Sets clear strategic recruitment, membership and extension priorities for the Fraternity
that are tightly aligned with the Fraternity mission, vision and values
Drives the development of extension philosophy and provides oversight for extension
in the collegiate and alumnae segments of the membership
Oversees Fraternity member retention and satisfaction in collaboration with the Grand
Vice President Collegians, Grand Vice President Alumnae and Headquarters staff.
Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Extension (ADE) on extension
presentations
In collaboration with the ADE, supports and provides guidance for Collegiate Region
9 team and Resident Leadership Consultants in the colonization and installation of
new chapters
Oversees membership sponsorship and selection for collegiate members, including
researching Do Not Wish to Recommend Information Forms
Fields membership requests on behalf of Grand Council (i.e. alumnae initiates,
reinstatements, ciphers and keys)
Completes routine reporting requirements (e.g., annual report, quarterly reports to
Grand Council, Council Comments, etc.) and other communications as needed
Mentors and evaluates Director Membership using the Leadership Model as a guide
Serves as an ambassador of the Fraternity in public speaking opportunities
Participates in the final selection of Fraternity awards

Position: GRAND VICE PRESIDENT MEMBERSHIP
Travel
Required
Grand Council meetings – 4 per year, of 3–4 days each (including strategic planning
session)
Biennial convention – 7 days, including pre and post Grand Council meetings Officers
Workshop – 3–4 days, non-convention year
Director’s Meeting – 3–4 days, convention year
Extension presentations: Approximately three per year for 3 days each
Chapter colonizing recruitment: Approximately 6 days, estimating two new colonies
per year
Chapter installation: Approximately 6 days, estimating two installations per year
Optional
Chapter visits: 2–3 days each, as requested
Other meetings and/or events as needed and assigned
Travel approximately 48–60 days per year, estimated at 50 percent weekdays and 50
percent weekends
Time commitment
20–30 hours per week
Participates in monthly Grand Council conferences calls (2–3 hours per month) and
other calls as needed
Optional
Participates in monthly Collegiate Regional Membership Specialist calls (six per year)
and quarterly Alumnae Regional Membership Specialist calls (one hour each)

Qualifications
Experience as a Fraternity Director or other experience above the local level (required)
