NGO- Conscience of the society( a portion from its Memorandum and articles of
Association)
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES in a nutshell
‘Conscience’ is that mystery chamber in human mind that teases and taunt man when
he is on the wrong path or when he witness injustice around him. A few of our
founder members including the founder secretary are deeply philosophical and
spiritual and they feel that the people of India are not yet spiritually liberated. We got
political freedom from the British some 60 years ago, but we are yet to realize the
full potential of our soul’s freedom. Concept of the freedom we are talking about is
explained in this write-up separately. Hence, broadly speaking, our objective would
be to strive to liberate the soul of the Indian society.
1. Our first and foremost objective would be to work closely with ministry of law
and the supreme court of India and to ensure that the sacred objectives of our
constitution which is projected in the pre-ample . .Equality, Liberty, Justice and
Fraternity is provided in letter and spirit to the citizens. We, with our philosophers’
insight, observe that most of the country’s ills like communalism, fundamentalism,
greed for power and money, intolerance etc. are the direct result of the above four
fundamentals not being delivered to people in the required manner despite our 60
years of independent existence. Society will get constitutional experts and advocates
as volunteers who will help us to file public the above referred Public interest
litigation(PIL) at Supreme Court of India, drawing its direct attention to the state’s
failure in delivering the constitutionally guaranteed rights like fraternity and
individual dignity in the day to day country administration.
2. We plan to travel extensively across length and breadth of the country to evaluate
and collect data about the degree of Justice and fraternity common people are
enjoying at urban as well as rural India so that such date would be made available
to the above agencies when a meaningful PIL is filed before the supreme court.
3. To truly become the Conscience of the Society in all respect, we plan to have an
interactive web site of the society wherein those people who lost all hope in life
and plan extreme steps like suicide etc. can get in touch with us for effective
counseling to bring them back to hope and life. We plan to make temples,
mosques and churches our MISSION PARTNERS in our endeavour to save such
lives. This web site would serve as the interactive point of major thinkers,
philosophers and eminent opinion leaders to express their views on major national
issues to act as the real ‘CONSCIENCE of the SOCIETY’.
4. One of the next major objective of the society is to re-invent and re-define
Democracy to suit the times. Unlike science, which has leapt to new heights in
every field, Democracy still remain an old dogma inherited from the remote past.
We carry it symbolically with our periodical elections, the one and only
participation of the common man in the great system. The old slogan of ‘for the
people, of the people and by the people in its true spirit is still a distant dream. No
one really knows what happened to democracy, the last and ultimate of man’s
political systems. Hence our active interest to look into the root of the calamity.
Our vision, Our beliefs in a nutshell
a) We believe that human values are like flowers and fruits that bear on a tree
abundantly and naturally when it gets reasonable amount of sunlight, water and manure.
Human values like individual dignity, respect for self and the other, justice fraternity and
equality will naturally blossom from our citizens when the STATE faultlessly and fully
deliver these CONSTITUTIONALLY GUARANTEED rights of the individual in the act
of country administration. It is there intact in the BLUE PRINT , but it is not delivered
to people in reality in the act of country administration. The structure of the country
administration is not according to the blue-print, hence it is defective. We believe that
this fundamental lapse is the cause of all our anti-social activities in the country including
naxalism and terrorism and un-rest and valueless-ness in the country.
b) In every sense, whether formally defined or merely implied, STATE’S role in
essence, is that of a parent of the people. It is universally true that a person gets
his character, first and foremost from the family atmosphere. When a congenial
atmosphere is intentionally created by the parents in the family the ward grow up
as a self respecting, principled, confident individual. By this logic, if the people of
the country is found lacking in values and self-confidence, it is directly due to the
flaws in the country’s socio-political atmosphere. Not only that individual’s
dignity is not cared for in government offices and streets, but he is being despised
and made to feel un-wanted and ugly. Hence everyone is psychologically
compelled to abandon these vital human need of individual dignity as it is tough
to keep and maintain. It is natural to abandon what is a burden to carry. When one
has abandoned it, he can not ever respect it in his fellow-being. I am a dog, hence
you too, so we fight out our frustration in the street and families every day, in the
form of road-rage, crimes, corruption and family discords. The central concept of
the nation gets lost and serious doubt arise as to whether state exist for the well
being of its people or is it a weird entity for itself?
The principles laid down distinctly and clearly in the pre-amble of the constitution
meant for the code of conduct for leaders as well as people, are not at the central stage
of governmental priority and not dispensed at all by the government to the people. If
the concepts of individual dignity and fraternity are strictly ensured to people in the
act of day to day country administration, people will nurture these qualities and share
among themselves. People then would naturally turn a self respecting lot, having
respect for others too.
