Truman Dixiecrat Fair Deal Public Schools of Robeson County American History II Tasks For Lesson Engage—What tasks will “hook” students and uncover what they know and think about the concept? Students will create a time line of key events relating to postwar America using the following dates as a guide: 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, and 1952. Students will write a paragraph describing the effects of one of these events. Explore/Explain—What tasks will encourage students to observe, question, and investigate the concepts and explain concepts in their own words? Teacher will lecture students about Post War American, using ppt. Elaborate—What experimental inquiry, investigative projects, problem solving, and decision-making tasks will help students apply their new labels, definitions, explanations, and skills? Students will create one of the following for a museum exhibit about postwar issues: a song, essay, letter, and series of fictional journal entries, cartoon, or news report. In groups students will choose one of the following topics: GI Bill, housing shortage, family roles, or economic problems. Contributions to the exhibit should include both a visual and a written component. Evaluate—What Students will write a summary on what they have learned. formative assessments will ensure that learning is occurring?
