Media Contact: Dennis Olson 949-858-8255 ext. 323 [email protected] Toastmasters members elect Elisa Tay to International Board Davao City resident becomes new director of 300,000-member global organization RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif., Aug. 22, 2016 — Elisa Tay, of Davao City, Philippines, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Toastmasters International, the world’s leading organization devoted to teaching skills in communication and leadership. Tay was elected to the 2016-2018 two-year term at the organization’s 85th annual International Convention, held Aug. 17-20 in Washington, D.C. As a member of the Toastmasters International Board of Directors, Tay is a “working ambassador” for the organization. She works with the Board to develop and support the policies and procedures that guide Toastmasters International in fulfilling its mission. Tay is the CEO and co-owner of New Farmacia Suy Hoo pharmacy and the owner of Grub Resto Café. Tay is responsible for strategic planning for both businesses, which includes goal setting, developing marketing strategies and positioning both businesses as leaders in a niche market. Tay holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from The University of Immaculate Conception. She is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and past president of two Rotary Clubs, the Rotary Club of Downtown Davao and the Rotary Club of Davao 2000. Previously, she was a member of the board of directors of the Davao Beautiful Foundation and the People Helping People Foundation. A Toastmaster for 27 years, Tay is a charter member of Davao Noontime Toastmasters in Davao City. She has held a number of high-profile leadership positions within Toastmasters, and has attained the Distinguished Toastmaster designation—the highest level of educational achievement in the organization. She says, “Toastmasters is my second home, a place where I can make mistakes, learn and grow.
