and political impact of the Cold War and
decolonization from 1945 to 1989.a. Analyze
the revolutionary movements in India
(Gandhi, Nehru), China (Mao Zedong, Chiang
Kai-shek), and Ghana (Kwame Nkrumah).b.
Describe the formation of the state of Israel
and the importance of geography in its
development. c. Explain the arms race;
include development of the hydrogen bomb
(1954) and SALT (Strategic Arms Limitation
Treaty, 1972). d. Compare and contrast the
reforms of Khrushchev and Gorbachev. e.
Analyze efforts in the pursuit of freedom;
include anti-apartheid, Tiananmen Square,

term to define out loud to the class.

mentioned in todaysmeet closing
Warm up: Receive your identify. Follow the
instructions I give.
Students will complete a self-paced nearpod
review that covers all concepts in SSWH19.
Students will have a guided outline that they
will take notes on as well. If students finish
nearpod they will finish working on their
SSWH19 Notecards
Review for test
Students will be assigned ethnic identities to
help define ethnic troubles.
On todaysmeet tell me one concept you want
to review before the test

Identities will relate to both Africa and
Bosnia and will help frame the lesson.
Students will take notes on ethnic identities
and pan movements across the world.
Students may start on future unit 13 and Unit

the impact of terrorism on daily life; include
travel, world energy supplies, and financial
markets. d. Examine the rise of women as
major world leaders; include Golda Meir,
Indira Gandhi, and Margaret Thatcher.

Warm up: What was the fall of the Berlin
Wall.
Transition from Fall of the Berlin Wall, which
we have already discussed into the end of the
Soviet Union.
Work-Time Activities
Students will take notes using on the end of
the Soviet Union using a provided handout.
Students will fill out map that covers
countries that came out of the Soviet Union.
Students will color Code Map.
Warm up: On todaysmeet tell me what you
know about terrorism?
Students will take notes on terrorism in the modern
world and women in the modern world.
Students will then participate in a verbal review in
preparation for a quiz on this entire standard.
Additional Notes
Closing
Students will create 5 headlines that cover
both the fall of the Berlin Wall and the End of
the Soviet Union
