Friday, September 22 — Kick Off Event Saturday, September 23 — Inaugural Bike Ride The Lobo Cancer Challenge is a major community fundraising initiative to raise money and create awareness for cancer research and patient care in New Mexico. It is a cycling event in which riders commit to raise a pre-determined dollar amount by requesting support from personal contacts. Event sponsorship from local supporters cover overhead costs. So whether you sponsor, ride, volunteer or donate, 100 percent of the dollars that participants raise benefits cancer research and supports patient care at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center. A RECORD OF SUCCESS Cancer is the 2nd most common cause of death in New Mexico. A COMMUNITY EVENT Bike rides throughout the country have proven to be an excellent way to connect community members behind one goal: winning against cancer. The Lobo Cancer Challenge is an opportunity to bring New Mexicans from all walks of life together toward a common goal of finding causes and cures for cancer. This one day bike ride event will include rides of 25, 50 and 100 miles to accommodate all levels of riders. Pelotonia We ride for our loved ones, our friends and family. We ride for the doctors and nurses who make their contribution every day and the researchers in the lab working tirelessly to defeat this disease. We ride as a community to make a difference. Cancer Affects Each of Us While we’ve made great strides in finding causes and cures for cancer, we have more work to do. The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer focuses on the cancers that disproportionately affect New Mexicans.
