Once in D.C., riders will meet and present
cancer to our lawmakers from our perspective.
Banners signed and dedicated will go with
Spokes of Hope to DC representing you and
your family members in memorial, in honor, and
as a commitment to those yet to be diagnosed.
TO: All citizens whose lives have
been affected by cancer
RE: Cancer Advocacy
FROM: Cyclists Combating
Cancer and the Lance Armstrong
Foundation
Cyclists Combating Cancer (CCC) and the Lance
Armstrong Foundation are planning a nationwide
bike ride, with “spokes” of the ride initiating in
different home towns across the United States,
stopping and visiting cancer centers along the
way that have been significant in the battle
against cancer.
This is not a race or a fund raiser, but an
awareness raiser. The tour will include over 25
metropolitan areas across the United States.
Riders will be acting as “Spokes”persons as they
make their way to Washington D.C. to meet with
our National Lawmakers.
Riders are part of the Lance Armstrong
Foundation ‘LiveStrong Army’ and will have
media opportunities to speak regarding the ride.
The end goal of this historic ride is to make a
difference in how cancer is perceived by
everyone, with special attention to those who
think it cannot happen to them, and who believe
that cancer means the end of life. The emphasis
will be to enlighten the need to vote for,
support, and find ways to cure cancer and
promote quality survivorship.
Cyclists Combating Cancer is a not-for-profit
human effort to combat cancer supporting the
Lance Armstrong Foundation. The membership
is made up of cancer survivors, family members,
friends and caregivers who are passionate about
life and cycling, united together in a persistent
battle against this ever-present disease.
The mission of the CCC Spokes of Hope tour is:
• Display passion for Life as a testimony that
there is life beyond cancer
• Build awareness throughout all communities of
the number of lives touched by this wretched
disease
• Advocate for the government and private
support necessary to beat this disease
• Educate everyone in how to prevent, detect
and treat cancer as well as the resources
available
Cancer is not something people should whisper
about in fear. Cancer cannot be ignored. Cancer
is not something you can hide from.
Spokes of Hope will strive to demonstrate the
dedication to living life on your terms when
cancer has become a major part of life.
Hope is that our communities and lawmakers
will understand the need for greater awareness
in the political community. That people will be
motivated to get that Mammogram, PSA or
colonoscopy. Stop smoking and start living.
Participate in a healthy dialog with your doctors
and your family.
Ignorance and Fear are the primary weapons of
cancer… we need to disarm and inform.
We value your views and efforts, believe we
share common concerns, and would like to work
with you to enhance our mutual concerns.
Cancer is not contagious, but Hope can be!
Help us spread HOPE and join our efforts to
influence legislation to better the lives of cancer
patients and their treatment. Prevent, detect and
cure cancer in your life, and the lives of those
you love

Thank you for your consideration and joining us
in our war on the terror that cancer has brought
to so many lives.
Who are we?
Why are we doing this?
We are Cancer warriors and
champions of Survival.
Because we love to ride. We love
riding with our CCC family. And we
want to do everything within our
power to stop cancer from taking one
more life… killing one more dream.
Destroying one more destiny.
We are cancer survivors, family
members of cancer victims and
caregivers.
We love life and cycling, and hate
cancer and the effects it has on our
lives.
What are we doing?
Coming together in our home towns
to make a difference at home, then
traveling to Washington DC to make a
difference there…. And everywhere
we can in between.
Where are we doing this?
The coordinating Cyclist Combating
Cancer in each “hometown” has the
opportunity to decide where they
want to go and visit, how much they
want to ride, and how far.
When are we doing this?
How are we doing this?
On our bikes! We are riding with
friends and family and supporters
from town to town, cancer center to
cancer center.
The end destination with Washington
DC on the 16th of September where
we will invite our lawmakers and
their staff to join us in our battle
against cancer!
Won’t you join us?
