My main involvement is in the clinical sciences department with additional teaching responsibilities in the graduate program. I have served as the coursemaster for the Ophthalmic Lasers, Refractive Procedures and Surgical Techniques course delivering approximately 24 hours of lectures during the Spring semester. I also teach 3- 2 hour laboratory sessions each week in this course that require “hands-on” demonstration of advanced techniques such as laser iridotomy, injections and suturing. My graduate program instruction is focused in two courses; the core course (crystalline lens and anterior chamber physiology). My passion for teaching exists to prepare optometry and graduate students to develop into sound clinicians in the former and solid teachers and researchers in the latter. In both, I present material in an attempt to bridge the gap between basic and clinical science, showing the connections and vital work of each. In addition, I hope to instill in all of them a love for life-long learning as techniques and standards of care evolve for optometry and vision science. • Optometry Professional Program -Coursemaster *Ophthalmic Lasers, Refractive Procedures and Surgical Techniques Includes 3 hours/week of lecture and 6 hours of laboratory instruction. Given to approximately 100 3rd year optometry students. • Residency Program -Guest Lecturer for residency seminar discussing items related to contact lenses and anterior segment pathology • Graduate Program -Guest Lecturer *core course presenting 2 hours on aqueous and crystalline lens physiology to 1st year graduate students. -Instructor *various special problems courses ranging from contact lens design to the physiology of the ocular surface.
