Parts of the Eye
Outside the eye: Eyebrows keep s____t from dripping into the eye.
Eye la______s help prevent dust and debris from getting into the
eye. Tear glands under the skin above and below the eye produce
t_____s to l_______e the eye and special chemical help k___l
bacteria. The tear duct drains excess tears away, draining to the back
of the n____e.
Inside the eye: use the word list to match the parts with their locations

Functions of the parts of the eye
Put the part in its correct place below (iris, cornea, pupil, sclera, retina,
lens muscle, choroid, optic nerve)
: clear “skin” focuses some light entering the eye
: hole in the iris, allows light into the eye
: muscle that controls size of the pupil and therefore
how much light enters the eye
: the white of the eye, tough tissue that helps protect it
: focuses light on the retina
: changes shape of the lens to help it focus light
: has light sensitive cells that detect/absorb light
: carries information from the eye to the brain
: lies between the retina and sclera. It is composed of
layers of blood vessels that nourish the back of the eye.
Extra for experts
*Aqueous Humor: jelly like substance between cornea and lens, clear
(allows light through). Provides support for eye
*Conjunctiva: clear layer covering sclera and eyelid, helps lubricate eye.
* Vitreous Humor: jelly like substance between lens and retina, clear
(allows light through). Provides support for eye
