2015 year is symbolized by such important events as the 100th anniversary of the Armenian
Genocide and genocides of the other nations during the World War I and the 70th anniversary of
the Victory in the World War II and the end of the Holocaust. In the recent decades, there is a
tendency of studying these historical phenomena in a comparative perspective, what is reflected by a
stable definition - «genocide studies». Modern researching in this field applies to the allocation of a
separate research study of the problem of terror against children in contemporary history. In Russia
one of the most striking examples of such crimes is a tragedy in Beslan.Studying of this tragedy is
still in its initial stage and is of great research interest.
The conference seeks to stimulate discussion on this topic, highlighting new research regarding the
different aspects, such as



Unprecedented and universal Holocaust;
The Armenian Genocide and the genocides of the other nations during the World War I;
Beslan as a symbol of terror against children in contemporary history.
Issuesshouldbe presented in the main aspects of: sources and historiography; memorialization;
teaching. It is supposed to pay particular attention to the rescue and assistance to the victims of
genocide, the Holocaust and terror.
At the plenary sessions key reports on this issuewill be presented, and then summarizing of the
conferencewill be made. Breakout sessions involve discussions on the above aspects.
Applicants interested in presenting a paper should be currently researching or completing projects
exploring the subject matter described above. Proposals on new, previously unpublished research,
are welcome from scholars, including doctoral students, in all relevant academic disciplines. The
conference will be held in EnglishandRussian.
The applications deadline is March 1, 2015.
Complete applications must include filled attached form, curriculum vitae, a portrait photo, and
a word abstract of no more than 500 words for the proposed paper. Submissions must include the
applicant’s name, contact information and email address.
