Wong, M.D., Ph.D. Radiology Vice Chair for Research Administration and Training Professor of Radiology, Psychiatry and Environmental Health Sciences Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions JHOC Bldg.-Room 3245, 601 North Caroline Street Baltimore, MD 21287-0807 Phone: 410-955-8433 / Fax 410-955-0696/ email: [email protected] Research Senior Staff or Junior Faculty Position A research senior staff or junior faculty position is available, depending on prior training, experience, and aspiration, in the neuroreceptor imaging laboratory and Section of High Resolution Brain PET imaging in the Department of Radiology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital/School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. The neuroreceptor imaging laboratory conducts research using PET, SPECT, structural MRI, and functional MRI, to investigate brain chemistry and activity, especially as it relates to neuropsychiatric and substance abuse disorders and cognitive neuroscience. The research and training opportunities can focus on NIH and private funded imaging studies of neuropsychiatric and substance abuse disorders, focusing on pathophysiology of behavior and treatment outcomes; and new drug development in collaboration with large Pharmaceutical Companies in Phase I and above clinical trials with neuroimaging, and methods development, including radiotracer development for animal and human imaging. The applicant will have the opportunity to manage and coordinate clinical and translational research protocols and to interact as a liaison with neuroscience groups in Psychiatry, Neurology, Psychology, and Cognitive Neuroscience to bridge these disciplines with neuroimaging. The applicant will participate in manuscript and grant preparation as part of the laboratory projects (with the possibility of a mini-project or future independent project). The applicant also will assist in lab management/scientific endeavors including study design and analysis, new protocol development, and supervision of staff on complex recruitment issues involving psychiatric and neurologic patients, and others with substance abuse disorders and cognitive impairments. The laboratory has over 20 full-time and part-time faculty, research fellows, and staff, and hence the scientific and managerial opportunities and the variety of research projects are numerous. Applicants should have a Master’s or Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degrees. Proficient English writing and speaking skills are required. A background or strong interest in Psychopharmacology, or Physiological Psychology, or Psychiatry/Clinical Psychology, or Cognitive Neuroscience is required. Neuroimaging experience is helpful. Salary is commensurate with experience and training. Consideration for the junior faculty position is dependent on prior experience, publications, and references.
