STEPS TO IDENTIFYING A 4-H MARKET BEEF OR DAIRY STEER PROJECT ANIMAL
1. Locate your County ID letter, the Beef Information Sheet and the ID worksheet(s), emailed to all members
enrolled in Beef or contact your county extension office www.4-H.umn.edu/county. These are also available
online at: www.4-H.umn.edu/animal-ID
2. Tag and ID your animals, collecting the ID data on the worksheet.
3. Log in to your family account at http://mn.4honline.com. For assistance with 4HOnline, visit www.4H.umn.edu/4honline. An animal ID user guide for 4HOnline are available at www.4-H.umn.edu/animal-ID.
4. Click the orange [Continue to Family] button
5. Scroll down and find the youth you want to ID an animal for and click [Edit]. (Animals can be changed
between family members up until they arrive at the county fair, at which time a specific family member
must be declared for each animal to be shown.)
6. Click on the tab (near the top of the screen) that says, [Animals/Livestock].
7. Find the animal type in the drop down menu then click [Add animal]; enter all requested data.
8. When finished. Click [Save]. Repeat as needed for additional animals.
9. If desired, print a copy for your records.
10. Return ALL unused and/or damaged eartags to your extension office.
