ABSTRACT
With constant evolution of Implants, we have reached a state where the contraindications have shrunk
drastically. Cases which were left at the mercy of removable dentures have found a true savior in
Implants. While it is common knowledge that placing an implant is quite a simple job, it goes without
saying that proper planning and case selection is a prerequisite before considering this therapy.
In our practice we see a number of challenging cases which are difficult yet thought provoking and
exciting in many ways. It requires a great deal of mulling over OPGs, CTs, journals and catalogues to
arrive at the right choice to suit a case. In this presentation I will show how we have gone ahead with
many difficult cases, trying to make the procedure less time consuming and more comfortable and
economical for the patient.
This presentation is aimed at a wide spectrum of audience including



dentists who have not yet started implants and wish to do so,
dentists who have started implants and wish to take it to the next level
dentists who are experienced and who can enrich our gathering with their knowledge at the
same time picking a few tips from our challenging cases
BRIEF RESUME:
Dr S. P. Aggarwal, the past Vice President of IDA HO and President of IDA Delhi State Branch, is
a distinguished Orthodontist and director of the Delhi based Green Park Dental Institute &
Research Centre, the only ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified institute of its kind.
An alumnus of KGMC, Lucknow, he worked at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New
Delhi and established new norms for Indian population for various indices used in Dentistry
(Article published in US Journal in 1979). Having worked on the faculty of various prestigious
institutions such as the American University in Nigeria, AIIMS New Delhi and Christian Medical
College, Ludhiana, he has been conferred upon with a number of prominent fellowships
including the Fellowship of American College of Dentists in 1998. Recipient of the National
Excellence Award in the field of Surgery on 26th January 1997, Dr. S. P. Aggarwal has been
bestowed upon the honor of being appointed as Honorary Dental Adviser / Consultant to the
Armed Forces medical services, Ministry of Defense, Govt. of India.
With a fierce passion for Implantology, Dr. Aggarwal runs a busy practice, having put thousands
of implants in the last few years. He has had the rare privilege of working with PI Branemark
(the father of Implantology) in Sydney (1994). With growing interest in the field, he has strived
to use a diversity of implant systems, grafting modalities, instruments and implant stability
measuring devices. Apart from mentoring for many companies, he continues to successfully run
the beginners and advanced implantology courses at the Green Park Dental Institute in New
Delhi.
