Trousdale County Schools Weekly Lesson Plan Teacher: Canaan Bowman Pacing Guide Week #: 16 Dates: 12/2 – 12/6 Subject: Geometry Common Core Standard(s) to be taught: (Write the entire standard) CCSS G.SRT.6 – Understand that by similarity, side ratios in right triangles are properties of the angles in the triangle, leading to definitions of trigonometric ratios for acute angles. CCSS G.SRT.7 – Explain the relationship between the sine and cosine of complementary angles. CCSS G.SRT.8 – Use trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles in applied problems. SPI(s) to be taught: (Write the entire SPI) SPI 3108.4.15 - Determine and use the appropriate trigonometric ratio for a right triangle to solve a contextual problem. Daily practice activity for citing text based evidence in conversation and/or writing: I Can Statements : Student Agenda: I can identify the trigonometric ratios for the acute angles Posted daily but NOT included in Lesson Plan in a right triangle. I can apply trigonometric ratios to find the length of a side of a right triangle. I can apply the inverses of the trigonometric functions to find the measures of the acute angles of a right triangle. I can identify the angle of elevation and the angle of depression in a contextual problem. I can list the trigonometric values of the angles of special right triangles without using a calculator. Assessment Strategies (for Stage 1 teachers ONLY): Assessment used to determine mastery daily: If a quiz or test is given, include in the Teacher’s Lesson Plan Notebook. Instructional Materials (for Stage 1 teachers ONLY): All instructional materials are to be included in the Teacher’s Lesson Plan Notebook. Instruction: In outline form, describe each day of instruction. Day 1 Bellringer – Review Pythagorean Theorem Guided Practice – using the tangent ratio Independent Practice – Textbook and KUTA Day 2 Bellringer – Trigonmetric Ratio Lab Guided Practice – using the sine ratio Independent Pracitce – Textbook and KUTA Day 3 Bellringer – Review of Pythagorean Theorem and Trig Ratios Guided Practice - using the cosine ratio Independent Pracitce – Textbook and KUTA Day 4 Formative Assessment: Bellringer Observations during guided/independent practice Exit Ticket Bellringer Observations during guided/independent practice Exit Ticket Bellringer Observations during guided/independent practice Exit Ticket Bellringer Bellringer – Review Trigonometric Ratios for Quiz Quiz – Solving Right Triangles Guided Practice – angles of elevation and depression Independent Practice – Textbook Quiz Observations during guided/independent practice Exit Ticket 1 Day 5 Bellringer – Angles of elevation and depression Guided Practice – Special right triangles trig. Ratios (fill out table) Independent Practice – Textbook and KUTA Bellringer Observations during guided/independent practice Exit Ticket Day 6 Day 7 Alternate Instructional Interventions: Provide a specific plan for alternate instructional interventions, or re-teaching. On B days, the end of class will be used to re-address any material with which students show difficulty in understanding. Students will be allowed to re-take quizzes that they scored poorly on using InteractMath to improve their grade and gain more exposure to the content. Instructional technologies to enhance learning: List how each will enhance the effectiveness of the lesson. InteractMath website will be used for students to improve quiz grades and gain more exposure to the content in a one-on-one environment while also giving the students more responsibility over their own learning. KUTA Software will be used to practice and assess skill-based problems 2
