(Learning outcome relates to Higher order thinking) Subject Synopsis/ Indicative Syllabus (I) Introduction and overviews Introduction to digital presentation skills Concept of multimedia presentation Development of multimedia technology in design (II) Basic operation skills Basic theories and methodologies of visual communications Computer illustration Basic digital drawing skills Presentation techniques and approaches (III) Presentation of image manipulation Elements of visual communications Introduction to form and visual ordering Introduction to color theory and relationship Exploration of different media in creative visual images Relationship between text and image (IV) Media and production technique Creative approach of mixed media Idea and technique development Ability to understand basic visual terminologies and techniques Basic techniques and concepts of three-dimensional presentation This course provides students general knowledge of digital presentation theories, planning, applications, and designs. The course aims to provide students with pragmatic theories and practical skills of creating digital presentations. The course enables students to identify different methodologies and tools of designing digital presentations as well as applying appropriate digital medium for the generation of design ideas. 73 (V) Content Building Gathering materials Listing information Grouping and linking ideas in presentation Sequencing Teaching/Learning Methodology Lectures are structured to convey theories and concepts; Tutorials and workshops are designed to deepen the knowledge delivered in the lecture; and Group/individual presentation and case studies are employed as the assessment tools for critical thinking, team working and communication skill. Continuous Assessment 100% Total 100% a b c Explanation of the appropriateness of the assessment methods in assessing the intended learning outcomes: This continuous assessment instrument will include a design project and various classroom exercises that helps students to develop their abilities in generating creative ideas exploration, tackling research and problem solving skills, developing independent learning skills, and evaluating their own learning process by critical reflection. The assessment method of the assignment is divided into four categories in order to help students to achieve the intended learning outcomes, they are (1) Creativity and Idea Exploration (25%) – assessing students’ ability to create and design by applying diverse design theories; (2) Research and Problem Solving Skills (25%) – assessing students’ ability to solve problems by using research and analysis; (3) Independent learning (25%) - assessing students’ ability to selfmotivation in furthering knowledge, skills and interests; and (4) Critical reflection (25%) - assessing students’ ability to evaluate own process of learning to make improvements.
