A large food manufacturer contacted ERIKS regarding an issue with their steam boiler. A
significant amount of heat energy was being lost throughout the food production line, the
transportation of steam is a vital part of the production line.

solution was needed urgently.

SOLUTION
After examining the steam boiler, ERIKS suggested conducting a steam audit, which would
identify any abnormally high temperatures across the facility. It is a quick non-disruptive
inspection and allows ERIKS to present all exposed areas, as well as highlighting potential cost
savings.
Following the audit it was found that the pipework was causing the heat loss increasing energy
consumption. A full report was produced highlighting all areas within the steam boiler and
pipework with inadequate insulation.
Working with a partner supplier, a bespoke jacket insulation was recommended and installed
within a two weeks period with no interruption to production. The customer also repaired and
replaced the damaged pipework identified by ERIKS, with an annual cost saving of £13,500.
