To create and communicate a strategy for the Division that drives customer and shareholder value in collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders. To drive shareholder value through setting clear goals aligned with Group, Business Unit and Divisional strategies and to drive relentless execution of those goals. To drive an inclusive culture and diverse workforce that capitalises on talent within and across the Group to deliver on the strategy, while taking accountability for the wellbeing and safety of employees within the Division and across the wider Group. To build a resilient, agile organisation, able to navigate complexity and create a culture of simplicity, innovation and continuous improvement. To operate within the risk appetite set by the Board, ensuring that Suncorp operates in a compliant and sustainable way. To role model the Suncorp Values, Code of Conduct and Leader Profiles. Date: 30 May 2017 Prepared by: Louise Dwyer, EGM People Experience Appendix A – Specific role accountabilities Objective of Role To define, test and renew business opportunities (Revenue & Cost opportunities) and models from which the group can adapt and grow. Key Accountabilities Monitors evolving technologies, market trends and disruptive forces to assess opportunities and challenges to the extended enterprise and third party relationships. Leads a small portfolio to deliver intelligence about global trends, future market opportunities, global partnership networks relevant to the Suncorp Strategy & Business Model. Develops a compelling commercial three-year strategy to educate and inform the SI Leadership Team, the Board & SLT on key strategic opportunities that may significantly impact on Suncorp’s P&L. Responsible for designing the Strategic Innovation material that contributes to the three-year Suncorp Business Plan. Shares key learnings on Strategic Opportunities and Risks across Suncorp to generate a systemic/shared understanding of the business rationale and identified risks. Proactively works across the Suncorp Group to educate and develop an Innovation capability. Runs a CoP (Community of Practice) & develops appropriate frameworks for all Innovation functions across Suncorp. Works across Suncorp to develop frameworks to assist with build, buy or rent decisions on products and services Collaborates with key internal partners (customer and portfolio teams) to develop opportunities, build models and innovative pathways to achieve cost reduction or new revenue opportunities coming from new business models opportunities. Lead the design, development and selection of commercial experiments in market to develop organisational capabilities and establish positions in market to future proof and leverage market changes to Suncorp’s advantage. Experiments should focus on reducing cost or developing new revenue streams and may include: opportunities to innovate the existing business model, deliver service and product innovation and seed or acquire new business ventures. Works with the Commercialisation & Implementation team to agree across Group an investment rationale for Strategic Innovation; and deploy investment in strategic options and territories in appropriately diversified ways Actively facilitate a highly engaging and deliberately developmental experience of work in SI – test and learning new ways of working, implementing experimental organisational models and strategies to optimise workforce capabilities and inform broader opportunities to advance Suncorp to the future ways of working. Lead and develop the capability of others through effective coaching, mentoring, professional development and performance management. Embed a strong performance and risk management culture. Manage functional budgets. Key Stakeholder Relationships 2 Group Executives and Functional Leadership Team (key SLT members and EGMs across the Group) External third parties, business associations, industry bodies, leading technology providers This role reports to a Group Executive and member of the Senior Leadership Team. This role has leadership responsibility for direct reports including Business Leaders. Key Capabilities / Technical Competencies (skills, knowledge, technical or specialist capabilities) 3 Proven ability to present a concept, develop a commercialise solution & Influence senior stakeholders to test the concept in their business. Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively resolve conflict Mastery of leadership and change management skills, consultation, influencing and negotiation capability. Strong Commercial & Business Acumen High level influencing skills Proven ability to demonstrate the value of an innovative solution to business and key stakeholders including SLT and board Demonstrated skills in translating strategic risk modelling into test and learns and executed into business plans.
