Judge Howard Grodman Justice of the Peace Coconino County Judge Grodman holds Flagstaff Justice Court sessions in Tuba City to allow defendants outside the city to resolve warrants in a safe setting, and move stalled cases forward. Gil Contreras Parent Empowerment Coordinator Juvenile Court Coconino County Gil sees each family he works with as individuals and provides case management to parents and caregivers of at risk youths who are justice system involved and who are on the edge of being removed from their homes. He is also a Collective Impact Coordinator, helping the team to develop the Common Application for Services and using his insight and personal experience to hone the project into a best practice. Lieutenant William Glenn Sheriffs Deputy Jail District Coconino County Bill represents the Jail on the Behavioral Health Sub Committee and as a Collective Impact Coordinator he has helped the team to develop the Common Application for Services. Summer Glenn Lead Adult Probation Officer Coconino County Summer in addition to her workload at the probation office is also a Collective Impact Coordinator and has helped the team to develop the Common Application for Services. Rene Hobbs Superintendent of Schools Coconino County Rene engages vulnerable parents and guardians in the Transformative Learning Center’s Family Development Course. As a Collective Impact Coordinator she has helped the team to develop the Common Application for Services. Robin Hebert CJCC Assistant Coconino County Robin solved the technical problem of how to allow clients to share their information for the collective impact initiative by creating an excel spreadsheet that functions as a program making prequalifying for county services easy for our residents. Sarah Douthit Adult Probation Director Coconino County Sarah leads the Adult Probation Department that uses data driven methods to reduce recidivism every year for the past X years. Kara McAlister COPE Program Manager Coconino County Kara leads the Coconino Online Probation Education (COPE) program. Cope is a distance learning component of probation supervision focusing on mentoring, cognitive behavioral interventions, employability, other criminogenic needs and gender-responsive programming that will enable medium and high risk probationers that live in rural areas to communicate via virtual means with Probation Officers, Mentoring Specialists and mentors in Flagstaff, AZ and other areas. Janet Regner Community Services Director Coconino County Janet was instrumental in framing the innovative legislation that created the Charitable Tax Credit, which benefits hundreds of charitable organizations who provide assistance to the working poor throughout Arizona. She also initiated the Collective Impact Initiative in 2015. Cydney Boyer Parent Empowerment Coordinator Juvenile Court Coconino County Cyd dedicates herself to working with the parents and caregivers of at risk youths who are justice system involved and who are on the edge of being removed from their homes. She is also a Collective Impact Coordinator, helping the team to develop the Common Application for Services. Monique De La Luz Case Worker Coconino County Community Service Center Monique helps families and individuals in crisis situations daily, she tries to help families see their strengths by providing financial coaching and case management to assist families to move out of financial crisis. As a Collective Impact Coordinator she has helped the team to develop the Common Application for Services. Judge John Napper Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Napper was the Public Defender when he organized Yavapai County’s pre-trial release system to screen and release low risk defendants from incarceration in the county jail. Larry Green, Jr. Yavapai County Chief Executive Officer Larry created West Yavapai’s Crisis Stabilization Center, Yavapai County’s first facility that serves as both an outpatient stabilization center and inpatient treatment facility for patients in mental health crisis. David Rhodes Yavapai County Chief Deputy Yavapai County Sheriff Chief Deputy Rhodes played a key role in organizing the Yavapai County Mental Health Criminal Justice and Community Coalition, which establishes a “continuity of process” that links the criminal justice system with the community resources that can stabilize the lives of those with mental health issues and keep them in the community, rather than the jail. Scott DeArman Vietnam Veterans of America Juvenile Probation Officer (Retired) Scott is the driving force behind the creation of the Yavapai County Veteran’s Court, which assists veterans successfully navigate the criminal justice system through early release, housing assistance, medical and mental help treatment, and lifeskills and work programs. April Razo Spectrum HealthCare Chief Executive Officer April created Yavapai County’s first mobile crisis intervention and stabilization service for mental health patients. In the past year, April’s team has responded to over 1500 calls for service and diverted over 400 persons away from incarceration and to community based services. Sergeant Cory Runge Flagstaff Police Department City of Flagstaff Cory works with the Behavioral Health Sub Committee and NAU to research the implementation of the Sequential Intercepts model of diverting the mentally ill from jail in Northern Arizona. Brent Harris Prosecutor City of Flagstaff Brent emphasizes social justice and alternatives to incarceration, spearheading Veteran’s and Mental Health Courts, as well as initiatives toward disrupting the cycle of domestic violence. Lt. Paul Lasiewicki Flagstaff P.D Lieutenant City of Flagstaff Lt. Lasiewicki developed the Better Bucks program which provides a system that allows donors to buy vouchers for nonharmful goods that can be redeemed at local retailers. It is an alternative to cash as a safe way to donate to panhandlers. Brad Carolyn County Attorney Navajo County Over the last six years, the symposium has brought together law enforcement officials in order to educate and improve the processes these agencies use to help the victims of crime. Since its creation, the symposium has grown significantly and is now attended by hundreds of officials from around the state of Arizona and southwestern portion of the United States. Judge Dave Nielson Navajo County Superior Court Judge Judge Nielson debuted Navajo County’s Veterans Court program in 2016 after four years of development and coordination with the VA and VFW. Judge Neilson was also responsible for creating the community support networks and partnerships needed to successfully begin our Veterans Court. KC Clark County Sheriff Navajo County Sheriff K.C. Clark has expanded the use and function of the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office social media to help alleviate the strain on his understaffed agency. The page has grown by nearly 200% over the last year and become an important news source for the community regarding public safety and emergency situations. Tonya Reed Drug Court Coordinator Navajo County Often described as “tough, but caring,” Tonya is the driving force behind the County’s Drug Court program. She not only coordinates the program but provides needed support to help participants succeed. There are currently 38 participants in the program, and 61 graduates since 2006. The recidivism rate for all offenses for graduates from 2011 to 2015 is 29.51% and 14.75% for Drug offenses. Southwest Behavioral & Health Services Mohave County Behavioral and Health Services in Mohave County has a unique coordination with Mohave County Detention Center to support incarcerated pregnant women who come to the jail addicted to heroin. Upon release from jail, these mothers are already enrolled with services and Southwest Behavioral is available for a warm hand off and to further aid the member and her family in her recovery. Southwest Behavioral & Health Services Mohave County Behavioral and Health Services in Mohave County has a unique coordination with Mohave County Detention Center to support incarcerated pregnant women who come to the jail addicted to heroin.
