The Waiting Game
• Work with Dept of Labor & USCIS
to secure US work authorization
• Expedited processing = 8 wks
• Regular processing = 4 – 6 mths
• If scholar outside US, allow extra
time for US Consulate visa stamp
Permanent Residence
Two types of PR:
• Members w/ Advanced Degree
- preferred method
- requires teaching duties + specific ad
- unavailable for some countries
• Outstanding Professor/Researcher
- requires 3 yrs exp in field
- burdensome to ee, but helps w/ P&T
