Vision Statement for Pastoral Care Vision Statement for Community Our vision for pastoral care in our church is to fulfil Jesus’ command to genuinely love one another Our vision is for our church to actively demonstrate the love of God in Sherwood and the wider world What do we want to achieve? Support networks which are clear and accessible Everyone has someone to call on if they need to Everyone has a role in caring for each other An enhanced sense of belonging, value, unity and being cared for To provide a safe environment for children and vulnerable adults To improve inclusivity and accessibility throughout the life of the church What do we want to achieve? The church has a positive impact that is recognised by the local community We contribute to positive change in the lives of people in Sherwood and the wider world People make a connection between what we do and what we believe How will we do this? How will we do this? We will build on existing friendships and the support networks within groups We will communicate effectively the networks available We will ensure that everyone has a named person for pastoral support We will provide a programme of social events We will ensure we follow safeguarding policies for children and vulnerable adults and review these policies annually We will implement the Community Access Project and follow this with a programme of further improvements for inclusivity and accessibility We will encourage and empower individuals in their roles as change agents in the community We will work in partnership with local groups and agencies to improve social justice We will listen to people’s perceptions of the church We will have a presence at more community events and activities We will focus on a specific development project and support it We will engage with national issues and events For further information on any of these vision statements please contact Reverend Paul Worsnop on [email protected] Printed January 2013 Vision 2013 – 2018 We’ve prayed, met together, ruminated, discussed, and finally here it is......the vision for Sherwood Methodist Church for the next five years. This leaflet sets out what we want to achieve and how we plan to do this. We’ve sought the views of the whole church, but most importantly we hope that it reflects God’s will for us. We look forward to finding out what He has in store for us in the next five years. ‘Following Jesus, Serving the Community’ - - - Vision Statement for Worship We will encourage active participation in worship to strengthen and deepen their personal relationship with God, including quiet space for reflection We will consider issues of access (including physical, learning and/or sensory impairments), language and culture and wherever possible seek to meet those needs We will strive for a continuous improvement in the quality of our worship through resourcing and supporting all involved in it Our vision is of worship that is centred on Jesus and led by the Spirit where we feel ‘wow’ at the greatness and love of God. - - We will provide a variety of worship opportunities at different times We will encourage people to exercise their gifts in worship by providing opportunity, support and training - - is centred on God; Father, Son and Spirit encourages people to experience and respond to God is of a consistent quality and where people are comfortable to invite their friends draws on the cultures and traditions of all parts of the church is inclusive so that all participate How will we do this? - - Worship that: - - Everyone grows more like Jesus We frequently encounter God We grow in understanding and awareness of God’s Spirit at work in our lives We connect our faith with our everyday lives We recognise and encourage discipleship inside and outside the church Everyone of all ages actively participating in the life of the church We encourage people to make a commitment to Jesus Christ How will we do this?
