INTRA Internships
B.Eng. Mechatronics (ME)
Mechatronics is the science of combining mechanical, electronic & computer, and software engineering to
create intelligent machines. The degree, which is taught jointly by the Schools of Mechanical & Manufacturing
and Electronic Engineering, produces graduates with ability to create the interface between the mechanical,
electronic and software elements of systems and devices e.g. automobile control systems and intelligent
robotics. Mechatronic engineering skills are key in the ever growing presence of a connected world, the
Internet of Things (IoT) enabling machines to interact with the electro-mechanical/physical and software/
virtual worlds via the internet.
Graduates of this degree have strong mathematical skills and are natural problem solvers. The degree focuses
on eight core areas:
n
Basic Science & Mathematics
n
Mechanical Systems Design & Architecture
n
Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis
n
Engineering Software
n
Electronic Circuit & Systems Design
n
Automated Manufacture
n
Project Based Learning
n
Experiential Learning through INTRA
INTRA Internship
