Bio
Robert is a Professor and Chair of the Doctoral Physical Therapy Program at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. Rob graduated from WSU with a Master of Physical Therapy degree in 1994, and earned a Master of Education degree in Physical Education in 2000. He received his DPT from Massachusetts General Institute of Health Professions in 2006. Rob has been an APTA Board Certified Sports Physical Therapist since 2002, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a certified Athletic Trainer. Rob has been nominated and received numerous awards for excellence in teaching at the local, state and national level – receiving the APTA Sports Section’s Excellence in Education Award in 2007. He became the Vice President of the APTA Sports Physical Therapy Section in 2009 and is now in his second term in that role. Rob has published multiple books, chapters, articles and home study courses related to orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. He has lectured at the state and national level, and has instructed approximately 10-­‐12 courses per year on knee and shoulder rehabilitation. In addition to his full time faculty appointment, Rob is a physical therapist and athletic trainer for Via Christi Health, and also serves as a Teaching Associate at the University of Kansas Medical Center Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in Kansas City, and the Department of Community Medicine for the Via Christi Family Practice Sports Medicine Residency Program. Bonnie Swafford, PT, DPT
Rehabilitation of the Bariatric Patient
Bonnie received her BS in Physical Therapy in 1976 and her DPT in Physical Therapy in 2010, both from the University of Kansas. She is a licensed physical therapist in both Kansas and Missouri, and she is currently working as a Physical Therapist III at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Bonnie has vast experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient physical therapy and geriatrics. She is a member of the APTA Acute Care and Geriatric Sections. Bonnie serves on the KPTA Research Committee and is a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Acute Care Physical Therapy.
Jackie Dwyer, PT, DPT

Jackie received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Rockhurst University in 1989 and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Montana in 2014. She started her career at Bethany Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas and gained experience in acute, inpatient rehabilitation and sub-­‐acute rehab units. Jackie currently practices at Shawnee Mission Medical Center where she has worked since 1996. Jackie also spent a year providing Program Development and management at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital for the traumatic brain injury unit. Jackie has served as Joint Commission department coordinator and as an Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education. She is currently a Clinical Instructor and also serves on Fall Prevention and Safe Patient Handling Committees at Shawnee Mission. Drew attended Creighton University and graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2005. He has practiced as a licensed Physical Therapist in Kansas City since 2005, fulfilling his lifelong dream in 2006 when he opened Sport + Spine. Since then, he has devoted his time to both the development of Sport + Spine and his professional education. Immediately following school, he received certified as a spine specialist though the McKenzie Institute, became a movement specialist though the Gray Institute and became Kansas City’s first Nike Golf Performance Specialist. Dr. Rinaldi is an associate professor of pediatrics in the Section of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine at the Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City, Missouri. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine. He serves as Co-­‐Director of the Nerve and Muscle Clinic and is the Director of both the Brachial Plexus Injury Program and the Torticollis clinic at Children’s Mercy Hospital. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rinaldi serves as an associate member of the Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Committee of the American Board of PM&R, Subcommittee Chair/Senior Reviewer of the Pediatric Rehabilitation medicine Examination Committee of the American Board of PM&R, and as chair of the Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine and developmental Disabilities Council of the American Academy of PM&R.
Andrea Thorne, PT
Botox and Vestibular therapy as adjunct therapy for Torticollis
Ms. Thorne received her Master’s Degree from Washington University in 2001. She is certified in pediatric vestibular therapy through the APTA. She has been instrumental in the development of the pediatric vestibular therapy program at Children’s Mercy. She is the physical therapy support for the Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic and Comprehensive Concussion Clinic at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Under her guidance there are five therapists now that are able to address vestibular therapy issues for the hospital. She is the founder of the Vestibular Therapy Special Interest Group for Kansas City area vestibular therapist that meet quarterly. She is an adjunct professor at Rockhurst University
